Hoi, well I hijacked my fathers computer secretly as he left me in charge of the house as he goes to some wedding... he'll ream me if I don't clear the history of just checking my blog here... >.> <.<
Three Cheers to those who didn't write me off as dead yet. I'll be sure to kill over at a more appropriate time.
Good news though. For those who don't know I happen to be in Video Game development (or hope to be) well about a week ago my old teacher Mr. Matthews for Video Game Development and Design called and offered me, my Wingman Joe (ZerimORGren), Captain Joe (ZeroZerOne), and Comrade Wes (Blaze) a chance to work for him to pitch a game idea to Disney. Formally we're forming a company to present the idea and to for the ability for us to use this on our resumes (I don't have the time to go getting the proper symbols for that) as having worked as an intern for "Advanced Visualization Services" or something like that. Basically I'm doing concept artwork and character designs to pitch a game for C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
Mr. Matthews used to work for Disney and still keeps in touch with his friends, one of which happens to be very high up. And from that source he found out about Disney making the movies for all of the books in Chronicles of Narnia and games to go with them. The first one they're making is "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" which will be released sometime in late 2005 along with a game. Our teacher's friend said the next one the plan on doing is "Prince Caspian" but they haven't decided on everything yet; in our benefit, they haven't decided on the game. That's where we come in. Mr. Matthews opted to be allowed to pitch an idea and the guy said that'd be great. As of now the actual movie for "Prince Caspian" isn't even in production, so our ideas (if accepted) will have A LOT to do with how the movie turns out. For instance our ideas for how the characters will look in the game will then be considered to how their ideas for how the characters look in the movie and between the two of them be established a final idea.
As it sits in our group "the Inner Loop" (Joe, Wes, Joe, and Myself) we each have specific tasks. The Joe's, being better at coding and modeling then drawing will be doing research on the book to find the target audience, the genre of the game, and how it all should play. Me and Wes, being more artistic, are heading the concept art for the worlds and the characters of "Prince Caspian". And we all work well together being the group that we were in our class.
Even if this doesn't go through and our pitch isn't accepted, this is still great for me. Even if for the most part when and if the game is signed I work as an intern. No pay for all of this, nothing but experience for bigger "paying" jobs. But if our game is accepted we either get a huge payoff for our idea for them to make, OR we get hired as Disney game employees (ok so technically, as you might have read, or heard "Naa- RU-to band"..., I'm not really "disney" friendly. But hey, it's only one game, and maybe I'll bust out like the guy who did the cover art for "Little Mermaid", better look close kiddies at my disney game ^_^)
OH as if this isn't hella fucking long enough, I must add that I got the pictures developed, and then noticed I have no scanner, or at the very least I have no access to a computer that has both a scanner and internet access. So give me a few more days (weeks if I don't get a computer soon) to get them to ye.
Cheers, if you don't hear from me soon, you'll be seeing me in hell later ^_^
